A customer from last year sent me an update of a male pastel I sold him. saying how nice he had turned out. It's always good to hear back from customers who just want to tell me that a snake they bought is doing great, or that they just hatched out their first clutch from an incubator I made for them, and that they are happy with their purchase. He sent me a couple of pictures of the pasel, and since I didn't hold any back last year, I was also happy to see how nice they are looking as adults. Picture #1 | Picture #2 Thanks, Matt!

I just took a couple of pictures of my 1.1 mojave hold backs from last year. I'm aiming for bold, bright color, nice contrast and blushing and nice striping with my mojave project, and I couldn't be happier with my holdbacks from 2008. I can't wait to improve on these, as well as work them into some nice combos. '08 male mojave | '08 female mojave

My favorate normal female, a womaish looking girl from John Piro, finally laid a clutch of 8 healthy eggs for me after two full years of trying to get spider eggs from her. She was also paired with my male bee, but I didn't see any locks, so we'll have to wait and see if I get any surprises from the clutch.

HSUS is the Enemy! - Email received from USARK
"The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the Enemy of the Reptile Nation! They prey on the uneducated. They use their money to gain favor in Washington, DC. They pluck at the heartstrings of the animal loving American public. Their message is misleading. They count on their name creating confusion and implying that they have something to do with local Humane Societies. They do not take care of puppies and kittens. They have nothing to do with your local Humane Society. They are the most powerful Animal Rights (AR) group on the planet. Their agenda is to end ALL animal ownership and use. They oppose hunting, fishing, livestock farming, bio-medical research and pets... including traditional pets. They raise money by targeting students and senior citizens with photographs of abused animals and implying that the money they raise goes to the care of these animals. HSUS DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF ANIMALS! 90% of the funds they raise go toward salaries, administration and lobbying for the AR agenda of ending ALL animal ownership and use. HSUS is extremely well funded and is dedicated to destroying the Reptile Nation. They hope to use the current interest in invasive species and the Burmese Python as a tool to destroy our community. They do not operate using facts or science. They are spreading misinformation, wild exaggerations and emotionally charged rhetoric in an effort to use current legislative proposals to end the trade in reptiles. Do not let them succeed. Help USARK to expose them for what they are... AR EXTREMISTS! HSUS is the Mortal Enemy of the Reptile Nation!"

A while back, I read an article on Ball-Pythons.net that was written by Colin Weaver of East Coast Reptile Breeders about the way the ball python market decides what market prices should be. I've always said that we do things ass-backwards and basically just the opposite way that any other free market in the world does things, and Colin's article reflected my thoughts, as well as jumped into a little deeper water about what's going on with ball python markets, and why we are all idiots. I'll be posting more about my views on this topic here in the future, but for now, here is Colin's article.

For my first post in the News section of this site, I'd like to ask anyone who hasn't already read the information at PetaKillsAnimals to go there now and bookmark it, then read through the articles when you have the time. PETA is an obnoxious, evil and hypocritical organization that is run by completely psychotic criminals and sponsors of domestic terrorism. They use the false image of being an animal loving charity that rescues abused and neglected animals, when in fact their very public agendas include, but certainly are not limited to, ending the ability for humans to keep animals as pets, killing the large majority of all the thousands of "rescued" companion animals, because they "would rather see the animals dead than being owned by humans", advocating violence and terrorist acts against pet stores, labs that use animals for testing and the banks that are used by such labs. It's a shame that so many people donate money to PETA, thinking their money will be used to rescue abused and neglected pets, when their money is in fact being used to buy advertising, "Death Vans", ie. vans used to pick up "rescues" and murder them before they make it back to headquarters, where the dead remains are often thrown in dumpsters or put in giant meat lockers. Meat lockers, AKA giant walk-in freezers, are another thing that donated money is used for. PETA admits to killing over 70% of all the dogs and cats they "rescue, while a small animal shelter just down the road from PETA's HQ in Virgina adopts out more than 80% of the dogs and cats that they rescue. And almost none of the donated money PETA brings in each year goes toward supporting local animal shelters that actually attempt to give these animals a decent life. Go ahead and do some Google searches for speeches and articles by the heads up in PETA. Just be sure you have a good hour or two before you are planning to eat your next meal. And don't even get me started on HSUS. PETA = Psychotic extremists = HSUS = No pet ownership for anyone = Animals are more important than humans, and humans are scum. Check it out, and don't ever give a single penny to either organization. If you are an animal lover and want to donate to a good organization hat will benefit the well being of animals, give to your local no-kill rescue, or PIJAC. Reptile lovers can check out USARK. Anyway, it's 6:07 in the morning, and I need some sleep. Thanks for reading. |
